Jaylen Browns Contract is... Interesting
The Boston Celtics basically just created the end of their make-believe dynasty. The Celtics just gave Jaylen Brown the most lucrative deal in the history of the NBA, but my question is, why? I understand that Jaylen Brown is arguably the best player on the Celtics team but that doesn't excuse his flaws. That doesn't excuse the fact that they haven’t won anything with him being on the team. Or the fact that he basically lost his team the Eastern Conference finals this season by getting his offense exposed. I just do not see how he is worth losing all the depth that the team had. I usually like the decisions made by Bradley Stevens, but this just does not make any sense at all to me.
Let me say this, I am a Jaylen Brown fan. I have always liked his game and thought he was overlooked by Jayson Tatum even though he is the better player. The fact that he was able to sign a super max contract this season blows my mind. I think it is a contract they are going to be stuck with no matter what. What team would want to take over that contract? At this point who else could the Celtics even afford to add? I understand wanting to go all in and make this season your year, but you aren’t going to win a championship with just Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. They did add one player this offseason with the Kristaps Porziņģis trade, but when has that man ever been a difference maker when it comes to winning?
I really just do not understand what the Celtics have been doing and now they are locked into crazy contracts that will not help them in the long run. This was a drastic overpay for a player who does not make the difference of winning a championship on your team.
